Ford Motor (F) shares rose 3.5% in recent Monday trading, and General Motors gained 3.2% after President Donald Trump reportedly said he may consider exemptions to his tariffs for some automobile manufacturers.
"I'm looking at something to help car companies with it," Trump told reporters Monday at the Oval Office, according to Bloomberg. "They're switching to parts that were made in Canada, Mexico and other places, and they need a little bit of time, because they're going to make them here."
Stellantis (STLA) shares rose 3.6%, and Rivian Automotive (RIVN) advanced 3.6%.
