Applied Materials (AMAT) said late Monday it purchased a 9% stake in BE Semiconductor Industries.

The investment will further their years-long collaboration to develop an integrated equipment system for die-based hybrid bonding in advanced semiconductor packaging, according to a company statement.

The deal was executed through market-based transactions, the company said.

Applied Materials has no plans to buy additional shares of the semiconductor assembly equipment maker, it added.
