Japan Steel Works (TYO:5631) will merge with its wholly owned unit, Japan Steel Works M&E, on April 1, 2026, through an absorption-type merger, according to a Monday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The move streamlines operations and supports growth in defense and semiconductor segments. No new shares will be issued.

Shares gained over 1% in recent trade.
