HSBC Repurchases Shares

HSBC (HKG:0005) bought back a total of 3,399,753 shares in Hong Kong and London on Friday, a Monday filing with the Hong Kong bourse said.

The British lender repurchased 1,799,753 shares in the UK at an average price of 7.4201 pounds sterling apiece and 1.6 million shares in Hong Kong at HK$75.0073 per share.

Since the buyback program commenced on Feb. 20, a total of 166,524,494 shares have been repurchased for about $1.86 billion.

Upon cancellation of the shares repurchased in the UK, the bank will have 17,679,288,897 shares in issue.
