Delta Gets Market's Approval After Pulling Guidance, Reducing Supply -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
10 Apr

1305 ET - Delta Air Lines' decision to pull its full-year outlook is understandable, given that visibility is limited in the current demand environment, particularly for its domestic market, Melius Research analysts say in a research note. The Street's 25 EPS estimate for Delta had fallen 23% since the market's peak on Feb 19, the analysts say. With shares rising 7% today, investors seem pleased with Delta's decision to reduce supply to protect margins and cash generation, according to Melius. "Long term, Delta remains much better positioned than most to weather a downturn, which puts them in a position to deepen their competitive moat," the analysts add.
