Santos (ASX:STO) is exploring US liquefied natural gas (LNG) opportunities but has yet to find a suitable target, according to a Thursday report by The Australian.
Santos, driven by its desire to own LNG assets, explored a deal with Woodside (ASX:WDS) at the end of 2023.
Despite talks, the deal never happened, potentially ending hopes of a buyout or merger with Beach Energy (ASX:BPT), the report said.
Santos did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
