Monash IVF Group (ASX:MVF) confirmed that an embryo was mistakenly implanted into the wrong patient at its Brisbane clinic, resulting in the birth of a child, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
In response to a Thursday article by the Herald Sun, Monash said the incident, which occurred in February, was due to human error and is now the subject of an independent investigation.
The company said that, along with the affected patients, it has notified insurers and regulators of the incident.
MVF does not expect the incident to be material to its fiscal 2025 financial performance.
