Generative AI is going to reinvent virtually every customer experience and enable entirely new ones that have only been dreamed about, Amazon.com Chief Executive Andy Jassy said in a letter to shareholders.
Just as he did a year ago, Jassy used the letter to tout Amazon's vision for how generative AI will be critical to the company's next phase of growth.
More than 1,000 generative AI applications are currently being built across the company that will change customer experiences around shopping, coding, personal assistants, streaming video and music, advertising, healthcare, reading, home devices and more, he said.
"If your customer experiences aren't planning to leverage these intelligent models, their ability to query giant corpuses of data and quickly find your needle in the haystack, their ability to keep getting smarter with more feedback and data, and their future agentic capabilities, you will not be competitive," the CEO said.
Amazon's early AI workloads focus on productivity and costs-cutting that can save companies money, Jassy said. He anticipates that some of the biggest AI-related shifts may not happen in the next year or two, but won't take another decade to materialize.
"It's moving faster than almost anything technology has ever seen," Jassy said.
