Warner Bros. Discovery said John Malone won't stand for reelection and will transition to the role of chair emeritus.
The New York media and entertainment company said Friday that Malone has decided that he won't run for re-election as a director on the board once his term expires at the end of the upcoming annual general meeting.
Currently, Malone is chair of the company's nominating and corporate governance committee.
As Chair Emeritus, Malone will continue to attend board meetings regularly but now in an advisory capacity, and he won't have the right to vote on board matters, Warner said.
Warner noted that his decision isn't due to any disagreement with the company.
