April 7 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 1920 GMT on Monday:

** President Donald Trump on Monday directed a powerful U.S. national security panel to take a fresh look at Nippon Steel's 5401.T bid for U.S. Steel X.N to help determine if "further action" is appropriate, raising hopes for an elusive greenlight for the deal. nL2N3QL0O8

** British healthcare REIT Assura AGRP.L on Monday said that Britain's Takeover Panel has extended the deadline for its potential deal with Primary Health Properties PHP.L to May 5.

** British private equity firm 3i Group Plc III.L has put the sale process of pet food maker MPM on hold to assess the impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. nL3N3QL1IQ

** Mesa Air Group MESA.O and Republic Airways agreed to merge in an all-stock deal, the companies said, in a move that would give them a larger fleet and boost efficiency in regional flying and crew management. nL3N3QL148

** Chinese battery giant CATL 300750.SZ is in talks to buy a controlling stake in electric vehicle maker Nio's 9866.HK power unit, which runs more than 3,000 battery swapping stations in China, four people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. nL3N3QH0ZE

** Woodside Energy WDS.AX, Australia’s top gas producer, said it agreed to sell a 40% stake in its Louisiana liquefied natural gas plant to U.S. infrastructure investor Stonepeak for $5.7 billion. nL3N3QK081

** Japanese insurer Dai-ichi Life <8750.T> said it had entered a conditional agreement to buy a 15.1% stake in Australian peer Challenger <CGF.AX> from MS&AD Insurance Group <8725.T> for 80 billion yen ($551.27 million). nL2N3QK05G

** Australia's Abacus Storage King > said that it had received an unsolicited takeover offer from a consortium consisting of Ki Corporation and Public Storage <PSA.N>, valuing the target at A$1.93 billion ($1.16 billion). nL3N3QK05K
