1008 ET - Recessions are bad for airlines, UBS analysts say, downgrading Alaska, Delta and United to neutral from buy. The strong international and premium segments that have supported those three airlines are likely to fade due to tariffs and declining demand, the analysts say. Airlines' revenue per available seat mile fell 10% to 11% during recessions in 2001 and 2009. Analysts expect airlines to pull 2025 guidance in 1Q earnings reports to reflect their lack of visibility as the negative momentum of falling corporate travel and weak domestic leisure demand is likely continuing in 2Q. Alaska falls 2.9%, Delta loses 0.8% and United slips 1.3%. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
