Sheffield Resources (ASX:SFX) reported record zircon sales for the March quarter on the back of strong customer interest, with zircon concentrate shipments from the Thunderbird mineral sands mine in Western Australia clocking in at 82,000 tonnes, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
A final ilmenite concentrate shipment for the March quarter was deferred to April, and the shipments for the quarter amounted to 126,000 tonnes, the filing said. Kimberly Mineral Sands, which owns the mine, shipped 18,000 tonnes of leucoxene concentrate.
Ore mining for the quarter came in at 2.5 million tonnes, per the filing. Ilmenite concentrate production and zircon concentrate production were 148,000 tonnes and 39,000 tonnes, respectively, for the quarter.
Sheffield Resources' shares rose almost 8% in recent trading on Thursday.
