Shares in Ansell (ASX:ANN), Cochlear (ASX:COH), and Breville Group (ASX:BRG) all tumbled as companies most vulnerable to the Trump administration's sweeping tariffs grappled with uncertainties in the wake of the new policy.
Ansell, which manufactures personal protection equipment for healthcare and industrial workplaces, saw shares down 13%. Implantable hearing products maker Cochlear fell nearly 2%. Kitchen appliances manufacturer Breville lost 6%.
The ASX 200 was down almost 2% in recent Thursday trade.
The sell-out comes in the wake of the US' reciprocal tariffs on around 100 countries. In Australia, goods exported to the US will be subject to a baseline 10% tariff, effective April 5.
