0822 ET - There are a host of bidders for TikTok as a deadline to find a non-Chinese buyer looms, but any deal will likely be structured and centered around Oracle and its cofounder Larry Ellison, Wedbush analysts say in a research note. Oracle is already TikTok's primary cloud provider and it has gone down an M&A path with TikTok before during Trump's first administration, the analysts say. They believe the platform's algorithm will be kept under ByteDance, but Oracle will be used to safeguard U.S. consumer data on TikTok. ByteDance and overall Chinese ownership will likely be a minority stake, but could be higher than 20%, the analysts say. Leading TikTok investors from the private-equity world would clearly be involved too, they say. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
