Chinese Home Appliances Sector Likely Won't Be Much Affected by Tariff Hike -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0301 GMT - Despite a stronger-than-expected tariff hike, the impact on the Chinese home appliances sector will be very limited, Daiwa analysts write in a note. The overseas demand outlook for Chinese home appliances companies may be further revised down following the U.S.'s new tariffs, Daiwa says. There could also be a potential slowdown in domestic demand after the front-loaded strong sales in 4Q24, they say. Daiwa analysts' concerns are not focused on the new tariffs, as production sites have already shifted to Mexico, creating a cost advantage for the companies. However, they are more concerned about the global demand outlook. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
