Exclusive: Resilience’s Thompson exits to join MSIG as North America cyber head

By James Thaler

April 1 - (The Insurer) - Resilience’s global head of sales strategy Sarah Thompson has left her role with the cyber insurtech and is joining MSIG USA’s nascent cyber operations as head of North America.

Thompson had only just been promoted to her most recent role at the start of this year. She spent the last three years with the insurtech, serving as U.S. head of underwriting in the two years preceding her January 2025 promotion.

Thompson spent nearly seven years with Aon before joining Resilience, latterly within the intermediary’s reinsurance broking division as a director in its global cyber practice and nearly four years before that within Aon’s cyber practice in its commercial risk solutions arm.

Before Aon, Thompson spent more than four years at AIG in cyber and professional liability underwriting roles.

A spokesperson for Resilience confirmed Thompson’s departure in a statement to Cyber Risk Insurer.

“Sarah has been a stellar member of the team, and we know she will excel in her new role as she did here at Resilience,” the company said in a statement

MSIG USA announced its launch into cyber earlier this year with the appointment of Guy Carpenter executive Siobhan O’Brien to lead the news business line.

A spokesperson for MSIG USA has been contacted for comment.

Thompson’s departure marks the latest notable senior executive to exit Resilience in the last year and a half.

In July 2024, Cyber Risk Insurer reported that the firm had parted ways with global head of underwriting and sales CJ Pruzinsky and former chief underwriting officer Kevin McGowan, who have since emerged to lead a new cyber offering at Old Republic.

Cyber Risk Insurer also reported in February that CUO and chief operating officer for global insurance operations Killian Brady and longtime product director Sam Lisi had left the company to join Old Republic. Brady had only been in the CUO role since last July.

Other previous senior departures in the last two years have included head of international Kyle Bryant who joined Coalition, chief claims officer Mike Phillips who joined CFC and former North America claims head Linda Comerford.

In February, Resilience vice president Kristin Camme joined AIG as zonal leader for national accounts in cyber and professional liability.

The company has also been adding to its ranks, with a spokesperson previously telling Cyber Risk Insurer that it grew headcount by 40% in 2024 and had already made 16 new hires in 2025, as of this past February.

Cyber Risk Insurer was also the first to report in January that George Kostiopoulos was named the insurtech’s president of insurance operations.

In January, Cyber Risk Insurer reported that Resilience grew premiums by more than 40% to around $180 million and policy count by 57% in 2024, but that its top-line premium figure was about 90% to budget.

In an interview, Resilience co-founder and CEO Vishaal “V8” Hariprasad and president Mario Vitale doubled-down on plans to grow written premiums by 65% to $300 million in 2025, despite generally soft market conditions.

They also sought to dispel any notion that changes within its management ranks had anything to do with the missed premium target and defended the fact that the insurtech has “extremely lofty” targets it aims for, outside the range of what is commonly found across the insurance industry.
