1335 GMT - Generali is able to develop in-house the same digital capabilities that smaller insurance technology companies are putting on the market, the CEO of its insurance division says in an interview. The Italian insurer's approach is sometimes more toward agency channels, hence it doesn't necessarily need to deploy insurtech capabilities in Europe, Giulio Terzariol says. It isn't that difficult to develop such tools from a technical point of view given the infrastructure, algorithms and data that are available to incumbents with extensive geographical footprints, he says. "The investments in technologies are pretty normal … so it's really about the adoption over time of this solution. We are actively working on this," he says. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
