Manulife Financial (MFC) said Thursday its shareholders should be cautious about an unsolicited mini-tender offer from New York Stock and Bond LLC seeking to buy up to 250,000 Manulife shares, or less than 0.02% of its shares outstanding.
Manulife said offer price of $18.50 per share is about 35% lower than the closing prices of its shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange on March 13, the last trading day before the offer started.
"Manulife is in no way associated with NYSB and does not recommend or endorse acceptance of this unsolicited offer," the company said.
Manulife shares were down 2.3% at $31.59 in recent US trading.
