NASDAQ ENDS DOWN 2%; TRUMP SAYS TO ANNOUNCE AUTO TARIFFS

All three major U.S. stock indexes ended lower on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq .IXIC finishing 2% lower, with U.S. President Donald Trump saying just before the closing bell that he plans to announce tariffs on imported autos during an event later in the day.

Nvidia NVDA.O and megacaps shares led the way lower.

Shares of Nvidia ended down 6%, while Tesla TSLA.O fell 5.6% and Amazon.com AMZN.O dropped 2.3%.

Shares of General Motors GM.N finished down 3.1%, while Ford Motor F.N finished up 0.1%.

Investors also took in the latest economic data including a report showing orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods unexpectedly rose in February as businesses rushed to place orders for primary metals and fabricated metal products ahead of tariffs.
