Altamin (ASX:AZI) said the test work for its Lazio project in Italy showed a simulated Cesano C-1 well brine closely matches actual well brine composition and behavior, indicating its suitability for sulfate of potash (SOP) recovery through the flowsheet in previous desktop study, according to a Friday filing with the Australian bourse.

The test work, undertaken by Australia's Nuclear Science and Technology Organization, also assessed lithium extraction technologies from SOP barren liquor, including direct lithium extraction methods, the filing said.

Shares were up 12% in afternoon trade Friday.
