Nikkei May Decline Amid Uncertainty Over BOJ Policy -- Market Talk

2352 GMT - Japanese stocks may decline as uncertainty over the Bank of Japan's policy outlook continues. Nikkei futures open at 37430 on the SGX, down 115 points from Thursday and down 80 points from Wednesday. Japanese markets were closed Thursday for a national holiday. Government data showed earlier that the country's consumer price index in February, excluding fresh food, rose 3.0% on year, above the 2.9% rise expected. USD/JPY is at 148.70, down from 149.87 as of Wednesday's Tokyo stock market close. Investors are focusing on any developments related to the U.S. trade and foreign policies. The Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.2% to 37751.88 on Wednesday. (kosaku.narioka@wsj.com)
