The Reserve Bank of Australia said that the payments system board resolved to take regulatory interventions to assure that the ASX (ASX:ASX) addresses risks related to its aging assets as a matter of priority, according to a Thursday release.

The board discussed the issues that contributed to the CHESS batch failure incident on Dec. 20, 2024, at a meeting on Thursday.

The central bank had highlighted that ASX's aging assets, including CHESS, were raising the risk of operational disruptions to critical financial infrastructure.

Details on the central bank's regulatory response to the incident will be published by the end of the month.
