Singapore Shares Consolidate as Investors Digest U.S. Tariff Threats -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0115 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index is little changed at 3907.39 in early trade as investors digest U.S. tariff threats. President Trump on Wednesday said the U.S. is considering 25% tariffs on the European Union while instructing the Commerce Department to investigate imposing tariffs on imports of copper. The main theme has been consolidation, Commerzbank Research analysts say in a research report. Top decliners include Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, which is down 1.9%, and UOL Group, which is 1.3% lower. CapitaLand Investment is up 2.8% after reporting its 2024 net profit more than doubled. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
