Sovereign Metals (ASX:SVM) confirmed that graphite from the Kasiya project in Malawi has the characteristics required for use in expandable graphite in flame retardants and in expanded graphite in gaskets, seals, and brake linings following further test work, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

ProGraphite and Dorfner Anzaplan in Germany completed the test work programs, confirming that Kasiya medium-to-coarse flake graphite achieved high expansion ratios using standard reagents at room temperature and short durations, the filing said.

The findings will be used for customer engagement and advancing offtake discussions regarding Kasiya's medium-to-coarse flake, per the filing.
