Feb 27 - (The Insurer) - QBE has launched a political violence and terrorism insurance offering from its office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) as part of its growth strategy in the Middle East and Africa region.
To lead the portfolio in the region, QBE has appointed Ali Awad as senior underwriter for political violence and terrorism.
Awad joins QBE from Allianz in Singapore. He spent more than six years in various roles across different Allianz operations, including in London.
In this new role, Awad will be responsible for setting up and profitably growing the political portfolio in Middle East and Africa. He will be reporting to Vladan Radakovic, head of property and political violence at QBE Insurance Middle East, and will be based in DIFC.
QBE opened for business in the DIFC, its first office in the Middle East, in 2009.
