SK Hynix (KRX:000660) started building its first fabrication plant at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster in Gyeonggi province, with construction moving up following a building permit approval last week, Pulse News reported Wednesday.
The 4.15 million-square-meter cluster will house four fabs, with the first set for completion in May 2027. SK Hynix plans to use the mega cluster to drive next-generation dynamic random access memory production (DRAM), it said.
Shares of SK Hynix fell 1% in recent trade on Thursday.
