WPP Might Need More Radical Change to Get Back on Track -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1053 GMT - WPP has been working to simplify its operations in recent years, but more sweeping changes might be needed to get the company back on track, AJ Bell's Russ Mould says in a market comment. The London-based advertising group reported results that missed expectations in some areas and was gloomy on its outlook for 2025, too, Mould says. Moreover, the market sees generative artificial intelligence as more of a threat than an opportunity for the business, he says. "Pressure is likely to ramp up on Mark Read, who has led the business since the controversial departure of founder Martin Sorrell in 2018," Mould says. Shares fall 15% to 6.50 pounds.
