RSUM confirms RB Jones' Engel as marine and energy CEO

Feb 24 - (The Insurer) - Ryan Specialty has confirmed the appointment of Mark Engel to lead Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers' marine and energy practice, based in New York City.

In his new role as CEO of marine and energy, Engel will be responsible for overseeing the operations, growth strategy and positioning of the marine and energy practice within the specialty underwriting segment, including RSUM's seven energy and marine-focused MGUs.

The seven MGAs are believed to be renewable energy and power-focused trio Albus, PERse and PERse International, along with upstream energy specialist Global Special Risks.

The group also includes Castel Netherlands, Trident Marine Managers and YachtPod Risk Partners.

Program Manager first reported last week that Engel was set to make the move following more than five years at RB Jones, latterly as senior vice president and managing director.

Commenting on the appointment, Miles Wuller, CEO of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Mark to this newly formed global practice head position. His expertise and track record are a perfect fit to bring unified strategy, technical execution and innovation to marine and energy for RSUM.”
