Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) said assays from its St Anne's deposit at its Murchison gold project in Western Australia extended high-grade mineralization to the north of the current mineral resource estimate, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

Significant intercepts included 16 meters at 9.45 grams per tonne grade of gold from a depth of 45 meters, as well as 17 meters at 7.27 g/t grade of gold from a depth of 48 meters.

Mobilization of the open pit mining fleet and installation of support infrastructure at the project are well advanced and mining is on track to begin in March, the filing said.

The firm's shares rose 4% in recent trading on Wednesday.
