Smurfit Westrock shares were down 6% to $50.19 after the company reported fourth-quarter earnings that missed analysts' expectations.
The paper-based packaging company had net income of $146 million, or 28 cents a share, up from $49 million, or 19 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for earnings of $290.2 million, or 65 cents a share.
Sales for the quarter were $7.54 billion, compared with last year's $2.86 billion and the $7.71 billion analysts were expecting.
Smurfit Westrock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in July following the completion of the combination of Smurfit Kappa and WestRock.
