Standex International has bought McStarlite, a maker of complex sheet metal aerospace components, for $56.5 million in cash.

Based in Harbor City, Calif., McStarlite forms large, complex sheet metal components. It designs and manufactures cold deep draw and bulge-formed aviation components, including segmented and single piece lipskins, nozzles and tooling to support production hardware. It generated about $33 million in revenue last year.

Standex, which paid for the deal using its existing revolver, expects the acquisition to boost earnings in the first year of ownership. It will be reported as part of its Engineering Technologies Group segment.

Standex Chief Executive David Dunbar said the acquisition expands its product depth and adds capabilities in commercial aviation, space and defense applications. He added that McStarlite's customer base, product line and technologies are complementary to its existing Spincraft business.
