11:36 ET--Applebee's parent Dine Brands Global is the latest restaurant chain to reduce its headcount in a challenging time for restaurants. The Pasadena, Calif.-based company said it was laying off roughly 9% of its staff "as part of a strategic plan to better align with current market conditions." The franchisor, which owns few of its restaurants, employed 596 workers as of 2023. Starbucks has said it will lay off corporate staff in March to streamline operations.
