Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Juniper Networks (JNPR) met with US Justice Department officials Tuesday regarding antitrust concerns over Hewlett Packard Enterprise's proposed $14 billion acquisition of Juniper, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

The Justice Department has prepared a complaint and is ready to challenge the deal if the companies attempt to finalize it this week, the sources reportedly said.

The companies have agreed to not close the transaction "until later this week," but they could extend that timeline to allow for further regulatory review, according to Bloomberg.

The deal has already received approval from regulators in the UK and EU, Bloomberg added.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Juniper did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
