SAIC Motor (SHA:600104) submitted trademark applications with the name "Shangjie," suggesting a deeper collaboration with Huawei, Yicai Global reported Monday.

The "jie" in "Shangjie" uses the same Chinese character "jie" in Wenjie, the new energy vehicle partnership with Huawei and Seres, the report said.

The trademark applications come amid a decline in sales and growing competition, Yicai said.

SAIC previously collaborated with Huawei for the Roewe Feifan R7 EV model, according to Yicai.
