WEC Energy Group is initiating a quarterly dividend of 89 cents a share, a nearly 7% increase from its current quarterly dividend, the company said.

The new dividend is payable March 1 to stockholders of record on Feb. 14, the Milwaukee-based company said Thursday.

The new payout, equal to $3.57 a year, represents an annual yield of about 3.7% based on Wednesday's closing price of $95.57.

This will be the company's 22nd year of dividend increases, it said. Its previous dividend was just under 84 cents a share.
