South Korea's Kospi Rises 1.3% as Shipbuilding, Battery, Chip Stocks Advance -- Market Talk

0026 GMT - South Korea's benchmark Kospi is up 1.3% to 2429.42 in early trade, as shipbuilding, battery, and artificial-intelligence chip stocks advance. Foreign and institutional investors are net buyers. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries gains 4.0% after setting an upbeat 2025 target of $12.58 billion for new contract wins. Electric-vehicle battery maker LG Energy Solution is 3.3% higher. Battery-material supplier Posco Future M rises 6.4%. Chip maker SK Hynix adds 2.7%. USD/KRW is 0.1% higher at 1,467.35, compared with the prior session's Seoul onshore trading close. South Korea's 10-year government bond yield is down 10.6 bps at 2.749%. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
