The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. The loonie was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.4394 to the greenback, or 69.47 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.4376 to 1.4415. Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 0.4 basis points to 3.299%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.601%. U.S. February crude futures rose 79 cents to $70.41 a barrel on Friday.
