Frontier Airlines is Getting an Upgrade -- Market Talk

0826 ET - Boarding soon: first class on Frontier Airlines. Airlines are looking to lure more big spenders with upscale amenities, and even budget airlines are feeling the pressure. "It's clearly shown it's a durable sustainable demand profile and it's time for us to get our fair share of it," CEO Barry Biffle says of the demand from affluent leisure flyers. Moving away from the airline's no-frills offerings has been a hit with customers so far, and the two rows of more plush first class seats being installed by late next year will be a deal on price, Biffle says. Frontier also unveiled upgrades to its loyalty program including a companion pass for its most elite fliers. Biffle says the changes are set to bring in an extra $250 million in revenue in 2026 and $500 million by 2028. (alison.sider@wsj.com; @alyrose)
