(Adds company response, more detail throughout)
Hasbro (HAS) is "exploring options" for its new headquarters, the company told MT Newswires on Wednesday in response to a report the toymaker is considering a move to Boston from its current home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
In a statement, Hasbro spokeswoman Roberta Thompson said the company was taking its time choosing a new location and was "evaluating all options that can best support" its operations.
Hasbro will provide updates on its progress, Thompson said, although she declined to directly address a Boston Globe report Wednesday, citing multiple people briefed on the matter, that the company has narrowed its search to six locations, all in or near the city.
Hasbro executives have been looking at various locations with around 250,000 square of space and have also been consulting with state and city officials on a potential move, the people said, with real estate industry sources saying the company has narrowed its search to around six locations.
In a Sept. 16 memo, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said any move would not happen for at least 18 months and a spokesperson told the newspaper the company was not close to signing a lease.
