ispace Targets December Launch for Lunar Mission 2, Confirms Landing Site; Shares Up 4%
ispace (TYO:9348), a lunar exploration company, plans to launch its Mission 2, featuring the RESILIENCE lunar lander and TENACIOUS micro rover, in December, according to a Thursday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The landing is targeted for Mare Frigoris on the Moon's northern hemisphere.
CEO Takeshi Hakamada confirmed the lander's assembly is complete, and final testing is underway. The mission will carry scientific payloads, including the "Moonhouse" art project by Swedish artist Mikael Genberg and equipment from Takasago Thermal Engineering (TYO:1969).
Shares of the company were up 4% in recent trade.
