Aeon's All Stores Sales Rise in August Amid Heat Wave
Aeon Co's (TYO:8267) unit Aeon Retail's all-store and same-store sales rose 6.3% and 5.8% year over year, respectively, in August, according to a filing with the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
During the month under review, due to the intense heat wave, the company said it launched programs to provide customers with a comfortable and cool shopping environment.
It said it lowered prices by streamlining distribution and bulk purchasing, and relaunched TOPVALU PREMIUM BEER, at affordable prices.
Food net sales surpassed the previous year's levels for 24 consecutive months, driven by high demand for beverages and rice, as well as fresh foods, while Health & Beauty Care sales have increased year-on-year for 30 consecutive months.
Aeon Co's shares declined nearly 2% in morning trade Wednesday.
