Shares of several optical communications companies experienced significant gains on Wednesday. Applied Optoelectronics surged more than 14%, Lumentum jumped over 12%, COHERENT rose more than 7%, and Corning advanced over 3%. The rally was driven by signals of strong demand for AI infrastructure highlighted at the OFC 2026 conference, where Applied Optoelectronics, Lumentum, and COHERENT showcased new products. Applied Optoelectronics featured its 25dBm ultra-high power ELSFP solution tailored for next-generation AI infrastructure. Lumentum presented a variety of network application solutions designed for scale-out, scale-up, and scale-across deployments. COHERENT demonstrated multiple co-packaged optics technologies, including a 6.4T silicon photonics CPO solution, a VCSEL-based multimode pluggable CPO, and a 400G indium phosphide silicon modulator.
