Drone assaults targeted two oil fields operated by Norwegian energy firm DNO ASA (DTNOY.US) in northern Iraq on Wednesday, marking the third attack on regional energy infrastructure within a single week. The Kurdistan Regional Government's counter-terrorism unit confirmed via Facebook that Peshkabir field in the autonomous Kurdish region sustained twin drone strikes around 6:00 AM local time, followed by an attack on Tawke field approximately sixty minutes later.

While the assaults caused material damage to facilities, authorities confirmed no casualties resulted from either incident. DNO immediately suspended production at both sites pending comprehensive safety evaluations, with operations to resume only after security protocols are verified. This development compounds recent security challenges across Kurdish oil infrastructure, coming just one day after HKN Energy's Sarsang field erupted in flames following a drone strike, forcing production halts. Earlier shelling had already disrupted operations at Khurmala field.

No militant organization has claimed responsibility for this week's coordinated attacks. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad issued a formal condemnation of the assaults on Tuesday. Production metrics reveal significant output disruptions: DNO's operational reports indicate Tawke field yielded 29,153 barrels daily last year while Peshkabir averaged 49,462 barrels. ShaMaran Petroleum Corp., minority stakeholder in Sarsang, disclosed first-quarter production there approached 30,000 barrels daily. Current output levels at Khurmala field remain undetermined following recent attacks.
