In Foshan, Guangdong, a woman surnamed Chen accidentally placed a bag containing nearly 100 grams of gold on a coffee table. Her daughter mistakenly identified it as trash and discarded it into a garbage bin around 7 a.m. Chen did not realize the gold was missing until 8 p.m. that evening. The bag reportedly contained an 80-gram men’s gold necklace, along with smaller women’s necklaces, rings, earrings, and small gold medals, with a total value close to 100,000 yuan. After discovering the loss, Chen and her family rushed to check the garbage bin, but it was already empty. Inquiries with the property management revealed that the trash had already been collected. Further communication with the local sanitation company indicated that the garbage had been sent to an incineration plant on the afternoon of February 27. The matter remains under follow-up investigation.
