On September 9th, according to XPeng Inc.'s official social media account, XPeng Inc. Chairman He Xiaopeng spoke about the company's naming at the Munich Auto Show, stating that while many German companies are named after their founders, this practice is relatively uncommon in China. Putting one's own name on a product "represents confidence and responsibility."
Previously, in the second episode of Luo Yonghao's podcast "Luo Yonghao's Crossroads," He Xiaopeng discussed using his own name for the company, revealing that the company name issue had been a constant concern for XPeng Inc., with suggestions to change the brand name persisting for seven to eight years.
"Many good friends sincerely advised me to change the name, saying that sales could double just by changing it."
He attributed this to several factors: first, cultural confidence, and second, Chinese consumers' brand perception, believing that foreign appeal is important. However, as XPeng Inc. expands globally, it operates under the name "Xpeng" in international markets, which is an abbreviation of the first pinyin letters of "小鹏," and "Peng" is easily accepted overseas.
