On September 2, BYD's Legal Department published an announcement on Weibo stating that the social media account "Dragon Pig - Car Collection" and its related accounts, which had long published a large amount of false and defamatory information about BYD, were found liable for infringement in a first-instance judgment. The court ordered the defendant to apologize, delete the infringing statements, and compensate BYD for economic losses totaling 2.0187 million yuan. The second-instance court upheld the original judgment.
BYD stated that recently, through court enforcement, the judgment compensation amount of 2.0187 million yuan has been executed and received. Meanwhile, the actual controller of the social media account "Dragon Pig - Car Collection" and related accounts has issued a written apology to BYD. "We have always respected and accepted suggestions and supervision from all sectors of society, but the internet is not beyond the reach of law. For any form of insulting, rumor-mongering, defaming and other infringing behaviors, we will continue to use legal means to protect the company's legitimate rights and interests."
Subsequently, Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD's Brand and Public Relations Department, reposted this Weibo and stated, "BYD has reached its current position and scale. If media outlets report and criticize based on objective facts, there's no problem! Some media don't understand the situation and publish some misunderstood content, which we can also accept! But for black PR and black media that target BYD for the sake of targeting, long-term attacks against BYD, and defamation of BYD, we absolutely will not tolerate it! This week, another batch of 'black media' will be sued!"
