On August 26, when Yunnan Party Secretary Wang Ning conducted research in Qujing, the transformation of the Ximen Street area in Qilin District drew significant attention. Through "micro-renovation," this old neighborhood developed new characteristics: the government optimized functional layouts and upgraded public facilities, leveraging resident and social investment, revitalizing idle and inefficient assets, creating new employment and entrepreneurship scenarios, improving urban quality, and promoting resident income growth. Three days later, this case was presented to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, which called for "promoting the practices of Qujing's Ximen Street area micro-renovation to facilitate organic urban renewal."

On August 26, Wang Ning researched urban renewal and renovation in the Ximen Street area of Qilin District, Qujing City, exchanging ideas with entrepreneurs and urban managers. This perfectly aligned with Wang Ning's speech on August 25 at Yunnan Province's third-quarter major industrial project coordination and advancement meeting, where he emphasized that all regions and departments should benchmark against national policies, leverage their resource advantages, park facilities, and port conditions to proactively plan, work solidly, and assess results, focusing on key areas, fully exploring potential, and cultivating more new growth points.

The concept of "cultivating more new growth points" is consistent with Yunnan's recent efforts to promote industrial transformation, upgrading, and economic structural optimization, reflecting the Provincial Party Committee's strategic considerations for continuously expanding new growth points in Yunnan's high-quality economic development process.

**Activating Resources: Growing New Momentum from Old Foundations**

On July 13, 2023, Wang Ning researched the avocado industry in Menglian Dai, Lahu, and Va Autonomous County in Pu'er City. During this year's National People's Congress Yunnan delegation's open group meeting, he shared Menglian's avocado "334" farmer-linking benefit distribution model, emphasizing "letting enterprises profit and farmers earn income."

Starting with trial planting in 2007, after 10 years of cultivation, it became successful. In 2018, it was designated as the county's "one county, one industry" characteristic industry. This year, with a value of 1.747 billion yuan, it ranked among China's Top 100 Regional Public Brand Values for Fruits in 2025. This represents a small fruit that grew "from nothing to something, then to strength."

Yuxi entrepreneur Qi Jiazhu introduced avocados from Mexico to Menglian, precisely targeting the area's natural resource endowments - an average annual temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius, abundant sunshine, and ample rainfall, making it an ideal place for avocado cultivation.

Entering an intelligent coffee estate in Lujiangba, Baoshan City, visitors can see white monitoring devices among coffee trees, real-time collecting data on soil moisture, air temperature, and other parameters. Coffee farmers skillfully use mobile apps to check the growing environment of each plot. The benefits brought by technology are tangible - after applying intelligent systems, the estate's coffee yield per acre increased by about 20%, and the premium rate improved from less than 70% to over 85%.

This practice of bringing technology to fields answers Wang Ning's "Yunnan Coffee Question" - how to transform resource advantages into industrial advantages, and how to keep more value-added benefits locally in Yunnan.

Industrial "old foundations" are also being renewed. Kunming actively promotes a three-year action plan for new energy battery industry development, attracting leading enterprises to settle in industrial parks. At Anning Industrial Park, Yunnan Shanshan New Materials Co., Ltd.'s lithium battery anode material production line operates continuously, with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons attracting upstream and downstream enterprises to cluster.

On April 17, during his research, Wang Ning stated that Yunnan should leverage its resource advantages, extend, supplement, and strengthen the new energy battery industry chain, strengthen policy support and factor guarantee, and accelerate the cultivation of key enterprises and major project construction through provincial-municipal coordination to build a new energy battery industry cluster.

Yunnan Copper Co., Ltd.'s Southwest Copper Branch achieved comprehensive utilization of waste water, waste gas, waste residue, excess pressure, excess heat, and excess energy through relocation and technological upgrading. With internationally leading copper-based material R&D capabilities, the company has been affirmed and has a clear direction for the next step: transforming from "raw material-oriented" to "material-oriented" to fully release the vitality and potential of resource economy development.

**Expanding Space: Opening New Horizons in New Tracks**

"Leveraging Yunnan's climate, terrain, and resource diversity characteristics to vigorously develop low-altitude economy," Wang Ning's speech at the Yunnan Science and Technology Awards Conference on August 22 revealed increasingly busy skies below 1,000 meters in Yunnan.

At Mile Yunnan Low-Altitude Economy Industrial Park, Mile Haoxiang Technology Co., Ltd.'s self-developed DL-2L Yunyan aircraft soared this year, capturing one-third of the domestic market share.

Above Mile Taiping Lake Forest Park, a helicopter sightseeing project attracted over 600 participants in just three days of trial operation.

On August 9, 2024, at 19:07, at Kunming Jinma Auto Plaza, an RA3 drone took off, and five minutes later, a set of brake pads was precisely delivered to the rooftop landing pad of Lemans Auto Repair Shop in Xinying Community, 4 kilometers away.

According to the "Yunnan Province Drone Industry Development Three-Year Action Plan," Yunnan will build a seven-in-one drone industry system encompassing "production, learning, research, application, testing, data, and intelligence."

"Green electricity +" represents another new card for Yunnan. As of the first half of this year, Yunnan's power installation capacity exceeded 166 million kilowatts, with green installation accounting for over 90%.

During the Yunnan Party and government delegation's study visit to Shanghai and Shandong from July 15-18, Wang Ning spared no effort promoting "green electricity + advanced manufacturing." Ten days later, at the Third Yunnan Business Conference, he again highlighted that "green electricity, minerals, agriculture, cultural tourism, biology, and other characteristic resources are accelerating transformation into new development momentum."

On March 27, Nanwang Energy Storage Yunnan Energy Storage Co., Ltd.'s 460 million yuan Qiubei energy storage project achieved full-capacity grid connection. Through the "green electricity + energy storage" model, this project can stabilize regional grid voltage fluctuations and ensure power reliability for high-energy-consuming aluminum production by Shenhuo, Weiqiao, and other enterprises.

On July 8, when Yunnan Province released the "Implementation Plan for Promoting Green Electricity Direct Connection Construction," Longi Green Energy Photovoltaic Industrial Park in Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone signed a direct connection agreement with Jiaozi Mountain Wind Farm. The project is expected to supply 120 million kilowatt-hours annually, raising Longi's green electricity usage ratio to over 95%.

Twenty kilometers away in Kunming High-tech Zone, leveraging "green electricity + computing power," low-energy-consumption data centers are rising, attracting multiple domestic well-known technology companies to sign agreements and settle in, accelerating the construction of a computing power hub facing South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Open spaces are also expanding. At Houqiao Port in Baoshan City, trucks engaged in border trade flow continuously. When Wang Ning conducted research here on December 5, 2024, he required "actively undertaking industrial transfer, vigorously developing landing processing, and promoting mutual development between port economy and park economy." Now, a processing park has been built here, achieving a "import-processing-export" closed loop.

Mohan, the port city alongside the China-Laos Railway, is building industrial clusters and, following the requirement of "attracting enterprises with first-class business environment," is becoming Yunnan's new gateway for opening up.

**From Travel to Living: Nurturing New Value with New Lifestyles**

Yunnan has promoted the "There's a Life Called Yunnan" IP for three consecutive years, transforming "popularity" into "new value."

From October 26-27, 2024, during his research, Wang Ning required Dali Prefecture to "be a leader in tourism transformation and upgrading," actively developing new formats and models such as rural tourism, outdoor sports, health and wellness vacations, and customized tourism.

Now, "deep experience tourism" has become the new trend here. Zhonghe Village at the foot of Cangshan Mountain has introduced resources from Dali University's School of Arts through "village-academy cooperation," transforming 56 idle courtyards into artist workshops. Visitors can participate in Jiama woodblock carving, learn Bai ethnic tie-dye techniques, or exchange ideas with artists at fireside poetry gatherings.

Shuhe Ancient Town in Lijiang has reshaped traditional ancient town cultural tourism ecology through the innovative model of "digital nomads + local culture." During the day, cultural spaces like cafes and libraries in the ancient town become gathering places for digital nomads, with some cafes thoughtfully offering "8-hour work shift" packages. At night, Naxi ethnic bonfire dancing becomes a must-experience activity.

This "half-work, half-travel" new character benefits from forward-looking policy planning and the ancient town's unique cultural and natural endowments.

Popularity has also boosted "Yunnan products." At Kunming International Flower Auction and Trading Center, millions of fresh flowers are sent nationwide daily through live-streaming e-commerce. Wild mushrooms, flower cakes, Pu'er coffee, Zhaotong apples, and other specialties have "gone viral" through short videos. Under the influence of "lifestyle productization" concepts, more Yunnan quality products are entering more households.

From January to June 2025, Yunnan Province received 371 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%, achieving total tourism revenue of 658.431 billion yuan, up 10.5% year-on-year. It received 2.5103 million overnight foreign tourists, an 86% year-on-year increase.

Yunnan's "popularity" is becoming "confidence" for economic growth.

Since 2022, Yunnan Province has held 15 coordination meetings. The first 14 meetings cumulatively launched 9,334 projects, with 6,207 entering production, generating over 470 billion yuan in annual output value and 19 billion yuan in annual tax revenue, providing over 390,000 jobs, achieving qualitative effective improvement and quantitative reasonable growth in the province's economy.

There is no innovation achieved overnight, only step-by-step practical implementation. By leveraging comparative advantages, proactively planning, working solidly, and assessing results, every "new possibility" becomes a tangible "new growth point."
