Ministry of Commerce Urges Netherlands to Act Responsibly in Resolving Nexperia Dispute

The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson stated on November 4 that China hopes the Netherlands will act responsibly and work with China to resolve the Nexperia issue constructively, safeguarding the broader China-Netherlands and China-EU economic relations as well as the stability and security of global supply chains.

When asked about recent negotiations concerning Nexperia, the spokesperson reiterated China's stance. The Dutch government issued an administrative order on September 30, improperly interfering in Nexperia's internal affairs, followed by a Dutch court ruling that unlawfully stripped Chinese shareholders of their rights, severely infringing on the legitimate interests of Chinese enterprises. Despite China's repeated reasonable demands during consultations, the Dutch government failed to demonstrate a constructive approach, exacerbating the global supply chain crisis.

On October 26, Nexperia (Netherlands) announced it would halt wafer supplies to Nexperia (China), disrupting the latter's production and causing instability in the global semiconductor supply chain. The Netherlands bears full responsibility for these consequences.

In a responsible effort to stabilize the semiconductor supply chain, China announced on November 1 that it would grant exemptions for qualified exports and facilitate Nexperia (China)'s supply recovery. However, the Netherlands has persisted in unilateral actions without practical steps toward resolution, further damaging the global semiconductor supply chain—an outcome neither China nor the global industry desires.

China urges the Netherlands to cease interfering in corporate affairs and collaborate constructively to resolve the Nexperia issue. Meanwhile, China remains committed to protecting the lawful rights of its enterprises and ensuring the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain.
