Semiconductor Giant with 140 Billion Market Cap Plans to Donate 2.53% Shares

On the evening of December 2, OmniVision Group (603501.SH, share price: 121.08 yuan, market cap: 146.435 billion yuan) announced that its controlling shareholder, Yu Renrong, intends to donate 30 million unrestricted tradable shares (2.48% of total shares) to the Ningbo Oriental Institute of Technology Education Foundation. Additionally, the Ningbo Yu Renrong Education Foundation plans to donate 600,000 unrestricted tradable shares (0.05% of total shares) to the same foundation.

OmniVision Group was formerly known as Will Semiconductor, a prominent name in the chip industry. On June 16, Will Semiconductor announced that its stock abbreviation would change to "OmniVision Group" starting June 20, 2025, while retaining its stock code "603501." The company has officially been renamed "OmniVision Integrated Circuits (Group) Co., Ltd."

On October 28, OmniVision Group reported third-quarter revenue of 7.827 billion yuan, a 14.81% year-on-year increase, and net profit attributable to shareholders of 1.182 billion yuan, up 17.26%. For the first three quarters, revenue reached 21.783 billion yuan (15.20% growth), with net profit at 3.210 billion yuan (35.15% growth). The growth was driven by rapid penetration in automotive smart driving and expansion in smart imaging applications like panoramic and action cameras, alongside improved gross margins from optimized product mix and supply chain management.

Ningbo Oriental Institute of Technology is a new research-oriented university established with social funding and national support, emphasizing foundational research, interdisciplinary frontiers, and engineering. Approved by the Ministry of Education on June 19 this year, the university focuses on disciplines like science, engineering, management, and cross-disciplinary fields while incorporating humanities.
