Following the announcement in March of a new strategic partnership with Spanish clean energy leader Grenergy to supply 468 MC Cube-T energy storage systems with a total capacity of 2.6 GWh for the Oasis photovoltaic storage project in central Chile, BYD Company Limited has now secured two additional major battery cell orders.
On April 1st, BYD's energy storage division formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Nanyuan Energy Storage (formerly known as Beijing Yuanpeng Smart Grid) in Beijing. Attending the signing ceremony were Zuo Honghui, General Manager of Nanyuan Energy Storage, and Ma Tao, North China Regional Director of BYD's Energy Storage Business Unit. The two parties will leverage their respective strengths in technology, production capacity, and market presence to engage in deep collaboration across several areas. These include the supply of energy storage battery cells, energy storage system integration, the development of large-scale energy storage projects, and energy storage solutions paired with new energy sources. The partnership aims to jointly promote the high-quality development of the new energy storage industry.
Reportedly, Nanyuan Energy Storage is a high-tech enterprise focused on energy storage system solutions. It possesses comprehensive capabilities spanning the entire chain from battery cells and system integration to project delivery and smart operation and maintenance. The company has accumulated extensive project experience in large-scale energy storage and commercial/industrial energy storage scenarios. This collaboration is expected to further expand the market penetration of BYD's energy storage production capacity.
Subsequently, on April 12th, BYD entered into a strategic partnership with Ugreen. The collaboration will focus on "power bank cells compliant with the new national standard." This initiative is a joint response to the newly released national standard for power banks, aiming to comprehensively enhance product safety performance.
Following the agreement, Ugreen and BYD Battery will jointly develop and mass-produce high-safety battery cells that meet the new national standard. Furthermore, Ugreen plans to release a new power bank model equipped with BYD's new national standard-compliant cells in the near future.
Information shows that Ugreen Technology was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Shenzhen. It is a 3C consumer electronics company integrating R&D, design, production, and sales. The company was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's ChiNext board on July 26, 2024, and currently has a market capitalization of approximately 31.95 billion yuan. Ugreen's product lines cover five major categories: charging, data transmission, audio-video, storage, and mobile peripherals. Its business has expanded to over 180 countries and regions worldwide, cumulatively serving more than 300 million users with an annual shipment volume exceeding 100 million units. In May 2025, Ugreen further elevated its brand influence by signing actor Jackson Yee as its global brand ambassador. Currently, Ugreen holds a 4.9% market share in the power bank market, which is still growing, and possesses competitive advantages in specific technological areas such as fast charging and wireless charging. Looking ahead, as industry concentration continues to increase and consumers place greater emphasis on safety and brand reputation, Ugreen is poised to further consolidate its market position.
